I have recently found out about affordable housing being built as an extension of toms close and as a resident on this road i am completely opposed and as you can imagine not alone. The whole appeal of the close and the village in general is the views of the green belt land.I popped down to the village hall on the 17th briefly before the meeting and was told that there had been no planning put forward but apparently there has which cannot be viewed, to me this totally unacceptable considering it will affect my property in many ways and not others making these decisions. if anybody took the time to see the close they would see all the children from the village playing in the street as it is a safe environment with a very narrow road. There has been these types of properties built in other villages and through research you will find that a majority of home owners in the surrounding areas have found it a huge burden not only devaluing surrounding properties but disputes with the kind of tenants occupying them.I have been told of land offered by the owner in which would not compromise anybody was turned down. The fact that there is empty properties for sale and rent and also new builds already in motion in the village baffles me why we need more housing. There is a huge amount of properties new and old in the neighbouring villages that offer affordable options that continue to stay unoccupied, there is just no need to ruin a beautiful close or village for that matter because believe me all will be affected in one way or the other.
